Core Gems

So when a ghost becomes injured, they have a last ditch defense where they retreat into their core. And I mean, injured badly where their body is rip apart to the point they can’t hold a solid form anymore. And they basically go into a hibernation state until they are strong enough to form again.

Ellie, Danny, and Dan are all injured in a final battle against the GIW. The organization was destroyed and the ghosts were safe but the halfas ended up being so injured that they reverted to core form and then went to sleep for a bit. When they woke up, they were still weak but at least recovered enough to gain consciousness. And realize…they are in some kind of auction…in the middle of a heist. It appeared that two furries (one in a bat costume and one in a cat costume) were ducking it out. And they…they were a necklace. All three of them had been turned into a necklace with their cores as gems accompanied by sapphires, pearls, and opals. And frankly gorgeous craftsmanship as the metal was crafted around their cores as if to cradle them and the other gems.

Unfortunately, they were too weak to take a form properly, they could still feel the strain on their bodies. But at least they could still communicate through their auras. Then the cat lady punched a hole in the glass container surrounding them and grabbed their necklace.

However, the bat grabbed the other end and it resulted in a sort of tug-a-war. Meanwhile, Danny, Ellie, and Dan were having a back and form commentary on the situation and what they should do. Completely unheard by the other party.

In the corner of their eye, the three halfas finally noticed a third contender. Some kind of clown who was…hold on…holding a gun?! And it was pointed straight at the two fighting furies who had yet to notice him. The ghosts’ protective instincts went into overdrive and they frantically tried to shout, yell, move. Just do something to warn the two but their cries fell on deaf ears. All they succeeded in doing was faintly glow which immediatly caught the attention of the fighting duo. The two turned to look at the strange necklace but right at that moment, the clown fired and a gunshot rang throughout the auction room. Having no other options, Danny and the others poured every ounce of ectoplasm they had to try and phaseshift, making the two furries intangible as the bullets passed right through them, but in their shock, the two jumped away in opposite directions and accidentally ripped the necklace apart. Gems and pearls went flying and the three cores bounced along the ground.

Luckily, the two finally noticed the clown and went to deal with him and his minions who had appeared. Seemingly putting their fight on hold and forming a temporary truce. The three halfas could only watch as the battle finally wound down, ending with the cops barging into the place and arresting the clown and his grunts, the cat managing to escape with half the scattered gems and pearls from the broken necklace along with a few other jewelry pieces (none of their cores though) and the bat leaving through a skylight.

The auction continued and in the end, despite being broken, their necklace seemed to have caught someone’s interest. A man named Bruce Wayne bought up every piece of the shattered jewelry wear. The auctioneers appeared relived that the item managed to sell in the end and gratefully gave it to him.

Bruce had no idea what happened at the auction, but he could have sworn that some of the gems faintly glowed right before he and Selina were shot. If the necklace was some sort of magical item, then he needed to understand exactly what has been brought to Gotham. It was unfortunate that Selena had taken some parts of the necklace but he utilized his vast wealth to make sure all the other parts ended in his possession. Now he would take them back to the mansion for examination.

Today (which will be days ago by the time this posts) was one for long stretches of s o l i t u d e to recharge. As often happens on these days, I went down some rabbit holes. Found this unassuming interview of Ben from Dec 2022 and found it encouraging, particularly from 9:00 minutes to 15:00 (the end).

In these last few months before the next US Presidential election, I am choosing to focus on, invest in, imagine, hold space for envisioning how it will be to have a female President. Not that everything will be All Better Now (it won’t be, not hardly), h o w e v e r, it WILL be different!

And, I for one, am ready for different.

It's kind of isolating how Tumble Town is built.

Aside from the massive walls that enclose a good portion of town, the other half is surrounded by plateaus all around.

And the placement of the walls almost feels intentional when you look at them like that. Like they were built to make the town feel even more closed off and maybe hidden away to some degree.

It's just really isolating, and anyone who visits can tell you they've never felt more small and alone than when they were in Tumble Town. It doesn't help that the town is super quiet, not even the sound of villagers ring through the air. It's basically a ghost town.

When they ask the Sheriff how he manages to live in the place, he just shrugs.

"I mean I don't sleep there. I can't. I feel like the walls will come crush me just as I'm about to fall asleep. Squish me flat." Jimmy's hands shake as he explains. His eyes dart around just to make sure there's nothing around him. There isn't.

"I just get what I need done and leave. I just can't be there anymore. It's too..." Jimmy tugs his sleeves down his arms and shakes them out so they sit right. "Cramped. It's suffocating. If I stay there for too long I feel like I'll die."

But Tumble Town doesn't stay abandoned. Jimmy has too much pride to admit defeat.

His days are panic filled and the only times he gets sleep is when he can catch a quick nap outside Tumble Town's borders.

No one comes to visit him simply because of how eerie the town is. He gets lonely at first, then wonders if he did something to drive everyone away again - maybe he was the problem, then he accepts no one is coming. So he doesn't go to them.

So yeah, Tumble Town is a little isolating in the way it is. And it does the job perfectly.

Most specifically thinking about magnets again - there’s the obvious of putting it in their hands so they can hold hands!

Of course if they’re on the same side i.e. right hand gets south polarity, left gets north, they’d only be able to hold opposite hands, so no handshakes (but I think that’s fine personally haha)

But on top of hands they could also have magnets behind their mouth! Kiss-magnets! My only real concern is the fabric pulling and developing kiss-wrinkles from being pressed against each other haha

Which would of course depend on ship compatibility! Max has to be able to kiss Dex and Caleb, so if that makes it that Caleb and Dex can’t kiss, I mean that’s just an unfortunate side effect haha

house md is generally a bad show so i'm trying to resist the urge to rewatch because i know i'll get sucked down a drain of Horrible Interpersonal Relationship Insanity and ALREADY i feel like i have to gently bat u all away with rolled-up newspapers for ur own good. i'm like no this isn't like other shows i blog about like leverage or breaking bad or the owl house where the show genuinely fucks hard on all levels and cares about good storytelling and is enjoyable to watch. with house md there's a 98% chance you personally will have a very bad time and not enjoy yourself at all and that goes triply if you have ever experienced literally any medical condition at all ever. i am simply a person with too many mental illnesses to avoid the stockholm syndrome entrapment of characters who care about each other really really badly and slowly fuck each other up beyond any hope of salvation ,

thirty year old dean's grief is surrounded by darkness and night. it was night when his mom burned and his childhood home went up in flames it was night when sam lost jess and it was dean's fault and it was dark and cold when he was ripped apart by hellhounds and when they opened the cage and when jo and ellen sacrificed themselves. everything is grainy and dark and dean goes okay. okay then i must surround myself in light. i will keep this sadness at bay by living under a blue sky. and the colours get lighter and the saturation rises and he lives in a bunker where he gets to control the light level but then. cas dies and dean stands over his body in broad daylight. he begs a careless god to bring cas back while standing in the spring sun. and when his mother dies he cradles her under a blue blue sky and it's everywhere! the grief is everywhere! age fourty the sadness cannot be kept in the corners of his life anymore it is everywhere and in everything!!! and yet the world is still beautiful. and he still wants to save it.

Yeah I decided to go ahead and do it.

New planting bed (3'x19') now under construction!

It's supposed to be in the mid/high 80s this week so between that and the sheer amount of rain we got that softened the soil up, it's a good time to get this done in time to actually grow things in it this season.

There will probably be some disappointment in losing this handy canine latrine spot (notice the yellowing), but tough tips.

The actual bad news is that when putting in the other front yard bed I had to unearth several t-posts sunk into concrete, which involved a sledgehammer and a lot of muscle action. An old fenceline cut off and buried under fill. Unfortunately it seems to be exactly 3 feet back from the sidewalk...the back border of the new bed. :-/

But at least I'll have some place for all these sweet potato slips to go once finished right?

listening to construct factory tier 5 from totk while writing somehow altered my brain chemistry and set me into a different state of consciousness in which i wrote for a half hour straight unblinking, unflinching, uncaring of the time passing by. i was in the ZONE and did not leave the zone until the song ended. highly recommend.

the way that all modern clothes regardless of price or brand or retailer insists on using the fast fashion model of decreasing the amount of fabric used on any given piece of clothing so that that piece of clothing is simply worse in the way that it sits and fits and falls (particularly in the waistline of pleated trousers or skirts, or the skirts of dresses in general) yet insists on using all the fabric necessary for gen z bell bottom style pants and offering no alternative model drives me fucking insane
